As of this year, fourteen states require some form of disclosure when a consumer is interacting with an automated system. The requirements are not identical, and three of them apply to recording as well.

The three patterns
Most statutes fall into one of three shapes. Upfront disclosure, disclosure on request, or disclosure plus an explicit human handoff path. Operon defaults to the strictest applicable standard rather than the minimum.
